Vertical Arts Gets VERY Vertical

Vertical Arts Gets VERY Vertical

For the last few months, Vertical Arts has been working on a project of epic proportions, a skyscraper in South Korea. Once completed the Busan Lotte Tower in Busan, South Korea will be one of the ten tallest buildings in the world.  This is quite an accomplishment for our small architecture firm in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

In late 2010 Vertical Arts was contracted through Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) to be part of their Building Information Modeling team for the Busan Lotte Tower.  Our project team has been providing specialized BIM services on all aspects of the project including what will become one of the world’s tallest hotel and luxury condominium developments.  Using the latest in BIM technology and systems interfaces, VA is able to work in a real time with SOM to implement design changes to the virtual building model despite the tremendous distance between our teams (New York, Steamboat and South Korea).

Vertical Arts’ lead architect, Rob Nadolny, AIA, commented, “Our practice is primarily high-end mountain homes, so this is an exciting change of pace.  It’s been a fun challenge working with SOM’s team in New York City and the client in South Korea.”
