In honor of Ice: A closer look at the Ice Hotel in Sweden

If you haven’t heard, Steamboat is now home to one of two Ice Castles of its kind in the US! The towering structure is over sprawling in Ski Time Square and ready to be explored! In honor of its debut year, we are dedicating a post to another amazing piece of “Ice Architecture” located in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden.

The Ice Hotel is a yearly project that is built each fall once temperatures drop below freezing, and operates as a hotel until it thaws out in the summer. Each year artists are commissioned to design and construct unique hotel rooms, a bar, and even an Ice Church for visitors to ogle over. The end product is magical and stunning each time around. Here are some of our favorite spaces below, but check out their website to learn more about this year’s creation!

For around $500 USD a night you could be cozying up in one of these inspired rooms. Care to be a bit warmer? Call Vertical Arts for all your Architecture and Interior Design needs! Photos via
