Discovery Learning Center Kids Visit Vertical Arts
Vertical Arts was recently paid a visit from a very special bunch visitors. The kids from Discovery Learning Center dropped by the Vertical Arts offices on Tuesday, October 23rd for a day of fun and learning. The field trip was part of the study “Community Helpers.”
The group consisted of 16 preschool students, 3 helpers and their teacher. The visit began with Matt, Brandt, and the team introducing them to architecture through a series of short talks including, “Where do Buildings Come From?,” “Meet the Owner,” “Becoming a Registered Architect,” “Developing Your Creativity,” and “Cool Technology in Architecture.”
After the short talks, the kids toured the office, where the viewed blue prints, site plans, renderings of different projects and even got to see the plotter in action. Following the tour, each student received a coloring book designed from Travis. Finally, they spent time one-one-one, or two-one-one, designing a building of their choice with one of our architects or designers.
Seeing the kids spread out all over the office drawing homes, stores, and skyscrapers with our staff was truly the highlight of the morning! It was a privilege to get the next generation excited about building design. We have included some pictures so you can get a glimpse of the fun that took place:
