Austria's Avalanche Center
Earlier this week we mentioned the importance of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center. Like in most ski towns an avalanche information center keeps skiers and riders abreast of the risks of an avalanche in that particular area. We recently came across Austria’s Avalanche Center, which was featured on Inhabitat.com. This example of a sustainable design at WLV Liezen in Austria was designed by KREINERarchitektur.
We love the curved design of the roof.
According to Inhabitat, “The flood and avalanche center is built from untreated larch wood, glass, raw stone and concrete – all materials that lend well to reuse and recycling and are respectful of the surrounding nature.”
What do you think of the design? Would this look work here in Colorado?
