Artist Hillary Weber at Vertical Arts
Vertical Arts is pleased to announce our upcoming opening reception for artist Hillary Weber. Based out of the Chicago area, Weber’s new paintings and photography collection was developed during the hours she spent on her morning commute over the industrial Stevenson Expressway (I-55).
“A year and a half in the making, i55: landscapes developed during the hours I spent on my morning commute over the seemingly ugly, barren, industrial Stevenson Expressway (Interstate 55). Rather than focusing my attention on the frustrating bumper-to-bumper, stop-and go-traffic, I began making an effort to take in my surroundings from a new, more positive perspective,” says Weber.
As an artist, Hillary looked for the beauty in the “ordinary and mundane” and the collection truly reflects the ever changing lighting, weather and season that she encountered over the year and a half of making that commute.
Come be the first to see her “abstract” interpretations of this urban landscape on Friday, October 1st at Vertical Arts from 6-8pm. Drinks and light Hors d’oeuvres will be served.
